About Pilates

Pilates is a unique method of body conditioning that integrates muscle control, breathing, flexibility, strength training and body awareness.

Pilates is a series of movements that engage the body and mind. Pilates can be performed on specifically designed exercise apparatus or on floor mats and should be supervised by extensively trained teachers.

Pilates promotes physical harmony and balance for people of all ages and physical conditions while providing a refreshing and energising workout. Pilates enhances and promotes strong spinal/pelvic and postural awareness.

Floor Pilates is done on mats and occasionally we use balls, circles and bands to promote more intensity and challenge.

Equipment Pilates uses a variety of equipment specially designed for Pilates namely Reformers, Trapeze (Cadillac), Stability Chair, Spine Corrector and Ladder Barrel. Pilates is more than just a form of exercise or rehabilitation. With patience and practice Pilates will transform your body and your mind giving you a newfound sense of movement and posture.

Pilates is for everyone. If you have any physical limitations, are pregnant or just had a baby, need to increase core strength and flexibility, are a professional sportsperson or just looking to stay fit and strong, we encourage you to give Pilates a try.

We've got most things covered at the studio so all you need to get started is a towel, comfy exercise clothes, water bottle - and if you're on the reformer a pair of grip socks!
